At the end of January, we launched another resource to help you meet the changing needs of your customers: Safeco’s iPhone application.
The app, which is designed to make it easier for your customers to work with Safeco when filing a claim, includes a claims submission toolkit to help them gather information about an incident and then send it to the Claims department after they’ve reported their First Notice of Loss (FNOL).
Word spread about the app and within one month of launch, 1,049 people downloaded it. Some of the more popular features:
- Users signed in to their Safeco accounts 7,018 times.
- More than 2,100 users accessed the incident tools.
- The “Find an Agent” feature has been used 545 times.
One of the app users happens to be a Safeco-appointed agent in the Central Region. She recently sang the app’s praises when she told us how it helped an unpleasant situation go more smoothly.
iPhone app streamlines the process
A week after downloading Safeco’s iPhone application, Agent Cherie Young of Assurance One of Texas, LLC was driving home on a dark stretch of rural highway, “in the middle of nowhere,” when she hit a deer.
“It [was] a mess,” she says.
Young immediately grabbed her iPhone and accessed Safeco’s app.
“I…push[ed] two options and I [was] reporting the entire claim AFTER I [had] a 3 way conversation with…Road[side] Assistance,” says Young.
It was after midnight on a cold, wintry night so she was thankful when, one hour later, she found herself “warm and toasty” in the cab of a tow truck.
“I never dialed a phone number myself,” says Young. “Does it get any better than that?”
The next morning, an adjuster stopped by and Young had her claim check in hand by noon, less than 12 hours after the accident.
“At no time did we tip our hand how we were affiliated with Safeco,” says Young. “I felt like a secret shopper.”
We’re advertising the app to consumers through Safeco’s mobile site and on Safeco.com. If you have an iPhone and haven’t yet downloaded the app, take a few minutes to download and familiarize yourself with it. It’s another resource you can use to help you add value for your customers.
