AL: Payment grace period for affected customers

In response to the recent severe storm activity, the Alabama Insurance Department issued a moratorium instructing all insurance companies to provide a 30-day grace period to policyholders who experienced loss or damage due to the April 27-28th storms and are temporarily unable to pay their premiums.

In response to this directive, Safeco placed a hold on any cancellations for non-payment of premium for policyholders in storm impacted areas.  This hold will remain in effect through May 27th.

If you have any questions regarding a customer's eligibility for a premium extension if they reside outside the storm impacted areas, please contact our billing support department at 877-566-6001.

Note:  The directive does not relieve consumers of responsibility to pay for premiums, nor would it prevent companies from cancelling after May 27.
