Travelers Implemented Billing Disaster Relief Plan
in Alabama

Applies to: All Lines of Personal Insurance

Due to the recent severe storms that have occurred in Alabama we have initiated our Billing Disaster Relief Plan which includes the following measures for the impacted zip codes.


If a Cancellation for Non-Payment Notice or Offer to Reinstate is scheduled, a normal bill will be issued instead. The minimum due on that bill will be any past due amount plus the current installment.


The following message will be on all account bills:





"We are aware of the severe storms that have occurred in your area. We are deeply concerned about the welfare of those who live and work in the areas affected by the storms. We hope you, your family and loved ones did not experience any personal losses. In order to assist our customers who have been directly affected by the severe weather, we are willing to work out temporary payment arrangements. If you need this type of assistance, please contact your insurance representative. They will be able to help you."

The Insurance Commissioner also issued the following directive to all property and casualty insurers in Alabama:


As to any insurance policy provision, notice, correspondence or law which imposes a time limit upon an insured who suffered damage in the storms of April 27-28th to perform any act or transmit information or funds with respect to such an insurance contract, which act was to have been performed on or after April 27, 2011, the time limit shall be extended to and including May 27, 2011.


This extension of time shall not relieve a policyholder who has a storm claim from compliance with their obligations to provide information and cooperate in the claim adjustment process.


No interest, penalties, or other charges shall be accrued or assessed as a result of the extension.


This directive shall not apply to new policies issued on or after April 28, 2011.

It is Travelers intent to comply with the Commissioner's directive and provide maximum consideration to impacted customers.

Normal processing will resume with bills and notices dated June 1, 2011 unless information between now and then suggests we should extend the date or stop the plan.
